Courses
Are there entry requirements to your courses?
As AISIT only delivers customised courses to employees in the workplace, you must be employed to apply to study at AISIT. Some accredited courses are only offered as a traineeship, so you must commit to all traineeship requirements:- a good place to start is to read the NSW government-issued A Welcome Guide for Apprentices and Trainees, available here.
For AISIT’s accredited training courses, all students must undertake a Pre-Training Review as part of the application process. This is to determine your readiness to study at the required level, including your language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills. We will also check that you have selected the most appropriate qualification for your career needs.
Should you or AISIT identify some additional learning needs, we will organise additional learning supports during your course if required. These supports are free of charge when delivered by AISIT and may incur a small fee if you are referred to an external expert service provider (refer to our Student Support List on our website for details of all support services available to you).
When do your training courses run?
Our training runs throughout the year. We regularly run training courses to meet the needs of our clients, which are typically government departments and agencies. If you are interested in a specific course or speaking to us about training options you can email your enquiry.
How long do AISIT’s training courses run for?
Our training is tailored to suit the client. Where the course is accredited, AISIT adheres to course duration periods, against regulatory requirements.
Our training courses can typically last between 1 day through to 12 months subject to how the course is delivered and structured, including part time options.
Where is the training held?
AISIT typically delivers all its training courses in the workplaces of our clients and/or offers an on-line option for some of the courses.
The mode of delivery for your course will be explained to you as part of your application process – this will be followed up in writing through an email from AISIT.
How much does training cost?
Fees are dependent on the course undertaken. As AISIT delivers training for its government clients and their employees, your tuition fees and charges are negotiated with the client (i.e. your employer). Your fees and all associated course charges are therefore covered by your employer.
If you are seeking recognition for prior experiences and learning, your employer may be charged AISIT’s Recognition of Prior Learning fees (refer to Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy and Procedure available on our website).
All other fees, eg, replacement of certification documentation or receiving copies of your records are made available in AISIT’s Fees and Charges Policy and Procedure (available on our website).
Enrolling in our Courses
How do I enrol in an AISIT training course?
Students wishing to commence training with us will need to complete an Application and Enrolment Form. This Form will be made available by AISIT via an email, alongside other important course details for your consideration, eg. the qualification name, mode of delivery, course duration, Student Handbook with all AISIT terms and conditions, consumer protection information, etc.
As training is delivered to employees of AISIT’s government clients, AISIT receives a list of employee names and email contact details, and uses this list to issue all application and enrolment information and related Forms.
Regardless of whether your employer has referred you to AISIT, it is important that you take the time to read all the information provided from AISIT prior to progressing your enrolment, as you will be responsible for adhering to AISIT’s terms and conditions at all times.
What happens after I enrol?
Once you have successfully submitted the relevant enrolment application forms and completed your Pre-Training Review, and only when we confirm your readiness to study your selected course, we will send you a Confirmation of Enrolment email with some additional instructions, including how to log into AISIT’s student portal.
All full qualification and short accredited course students will undertake an induction to on-line learning as part of their course orientation, where you will learn how to navigate your on-line learning and assessment activities, as well as how to keep your details current.
You will be introduced to your designated trainer and assessor, who will confirm that the Delivery Schedule is appropriate to your needs. If you are a trainee, you will also receive a Training Plan which further outlines your course requirements.
The Student Handbook has important information to support you in your studies. Please always keep a copy in easy access. If you are unclear about any part of your course and/or expectations of you, please contact your trainer and assessor.
Your trainer and assessor will be ‘touching base’ with you at least on a fortnightly basis, which may be face to face, via phone, email or other modes, eg. video conferencing. It is important to make time to meet/respond to any written contact, as this is your opportunity to:
- hear feedback on your course progression
- identify any emerging issues or concerns, as well as
- ask for assistance.
What is a USI?
USI stands for Unique Student Identifier. If you wish to study a nationally recognised training course in Australia, you are required to have one. Your USI links to an online account that contains all your training records and results (transcript) that you have completed from 1 January 2015 onwards, so it is a convenient way of accessing all your study records for the purposes of job requirements and career advancements.
More information about USIs and how to create one, or check if you already have one, are available on AISIT’s website. It’s free and easy to create your own USI and will only take a few minutes of your time.
I am enrolling in a traineeship. Are there any additional requirements?
Traineeships consist of a legal and binding Training Agreement (prepared in a Training Contract which all parties sign) between the trainee, their respective employer and AISIT as your training provider. You will be assigned a workplace supervisor who is responsible for monitoring your progress and working together with you and AISIT to resolve any issues.
The arrangement may be summarised as your employer agreeing to formally train you in a specific role within your sector whilst you are working and being paid. Accordingly, you must agree to enrol into a nationally accredited qualification and to progress and complete it as part of your traineeship.
AISIT’s Student Handbook has a designated section for trainees, which are additional requirements to those expected from any AISIT applicant and enrolled student. Please take the time to read this section carefully. The Student Handbook is available on AISIT’s website.
Another good resource for trainees is the NSW government-issued A Welcome Guide for Apprentices and Trainees, available here.

What if I need to withdraw from my course?
If you need to withdraw from your course for any reason after you received a Confirmation of Enrolment, you must complete a Variation to Enrolment Form, which is available by emailing enquiries@aisit.com.au or asking your trainer and assessor.
Your withdrawal request will be discussed with your employer prior to AISIT making the final decision.

What fee penalties may be incurred?
AISIT has a comprehensive Fees and Refunds, Withdrawals and Deferrals Policy and Procedure, which explains all the various scenarios and advises of any fees and/or refund entitlement. This Policy and Procedure is available on our website.
What if I am unhappy about an AISIT decision or action?
AISIT is committed to transparency and accountability in all its decisions, made by any of its staff. If you are not satisfied with any aspect of your experience is dealing with AISIT, we encourage you to complete and submit a Complaints and Appeals Form, available on our website.
AISIT’s Complaints and Appeals Policy and Procedure outlines the procedures which will be followed by AISIT to resolve your issue, the timeframes for receiving response/s from AISIT as well as lists external bodies with which you may lodge a complaint about AISIT.
